Day 106 - April 16th (Easter Sunday)

Today was Easter Sunday but it was also Christopher's birthday. Instead of a traditional birthday cake, Lara made him a Birthday Cheesecake!

Day 105 - April 15th

It is Easter weekend so Lara has been decorating the Easter Tree in readiness.

Day 104 - April 14th (Good Friday)

We have bought some new patio furniture. Just hope we have a nice warm summer so we can make the most of it.

Day 103 - April 13th

Whilst walking over the fields today we spotted these webs in the bushes. On closer inspection we realised that they were full of caterpillars. The warm sunny weather had drawn some of the caterpillars out of the web into the warm air.

Day 102 - April 12th

The bluebells in the garden are in full bloom.

Day 101 - April 11th

Today has been sunny so Christopher took the opportunity of taking hisSpitfire out for a run.

Day 100 - April 10th

Whilst my parents are away on holiday I have been entrusted with the Azalia plant that I bought Mum for Mothering Sunday. It has beautiful variegated petals and I hope it's still alive when I have to hand it back!

Day 99 - April 9th

This afternoon Lara and I joined some friends at the cinema to watch Disney's live action remake of Beauty & the Beast. We really enjoyed the film and Emma Watson was perfect in the role of Belle.

Day 98 - April 8th

Today was Steven's birthday. We celebrated with cake.

Day 97 - April 7th

Tux doing a spot of birdwatching.

Day 96 - April 6th

Its the school Easter holidays and Lara has time on her hands so she decided to have a go at some patchwork. She made this piece which she hopes to make into a cushion cover at a later date.

Day 95 - April 5th

Lara has bought herself a telescope with her birthday/Christmas money and has been patiently waiting for a clear night sky so that she could test it. Using her phone she was able to take this amazing photo of the moon. It was only her first attempt and we were amazed at the detail in the photo.

Day 94 - April 4th

A bit of sunshine tempted Tux outside onto the patio.

Day 93 - April 3rd

The Almond Tree Blossom on the High Road looks lovely. It was quite difficult to photograph though because some of the lower branches have been cut back this year and the blossom is now all above head height.

Day 92 - April 2nd

I've been looking for cowslips for several weeks and today I finally spotted some. Either its not a good year for Cowslips or its a bit too early for them as there don't seem to be as many about as in previous years.

Day 91 - April 1st

Out walking this morning we spotted this butterfly resting on some blossom.

Day 90 - March 31st

The tulips in the garden are now in full bloom.

Day 89 - March 30th

Christopher has bought a 3D printer. It still needs tweaking but to test it he 'printed' these two little robots.

Day 88 - March 29th

Tonight Lara took part in a Spring Music Concert at school. She was part of the percussion group playing the John Gunn Theme.

Day 87 - March 28th

Today we received our very first new 12-sided one pound coin

The coin is a similar size to the old style coin but with a number of differences. As well as having 12 sides (a bit like an old three-penny bit) it is made of two metals, with a gold coloured outer ring and a silver coloured inner ring. it also has an image like a hologram that changes from a '£' symbol to the number '1' when the coin is seen from different angles.

Day 86 - March 27th

These tiny blue star shaped flowers in my Mum & Dad's garden are so small and delicate.

Day 85 - March 26th

The drainage board have finished dredging the stream which runs along the High Road. Its lovely to stand on one footbridge and be able to see along to the other,

Day 84 - March 25th

Out walking this morning I spotted this tiny mushroom alongside the footpath.

Day 83 - March 24th

Today was Comic Relief Red Nose Day. We bought the obligatory red noses.

Sunday 16 April 2017

Day 82 - March 23rd

Grape Hyacinths in the garden. Not as many as other years but still a few.

Day 81 - March 22nd

The Aubretia never fails to flower in the garden.

Day 80 - March 21st

Compared to the pale coloured tulips I have in the house this week, some of the tulips in my Mum & Dad's garden are very vivid.

Day 79 - March 20th

This week I bought a bunch of tulips from the supermarket. They were tight pink buds and now they have opened they are the palest, delicate, pink I've ever seen in a tulip.

Day 78 - March 19th

The hyacinths on my garden have finally caught up with those in my Mum & Dad's garden.

Day 77 - March 18th

At this time of the year there is so much colour in the hedgerows. Some of the blossom is in full bloom whilst other flowers are still to open.

Day 76 - March 17th

This blue Periwinkle plant grows against our boundary fence each year. It;s another plant that some people consider a weed, but it's so pretty.

Day 75 - March 16th

Tux - enjoying a dust bath in the sunshine.

Day 74 - March 15th

As the grass is growing, so too are the daisies.

Day 73 - March 14th

'Tet-a-Tet' dwarf daffodils are abundant in my Mum & Dads garden and we have seen a lot of them when we have been out and about too. They seem to be a popular choice for front gardens this year.

Day 72 - March 13th

Tiny Celandine flowers, despite considered a weed, are a cheerful sight at this time of year with their shiny yellow buttercup flowers.

Day 71 - March 12th

As well as common yellow daffodils in the garden there are also one of two Narcissus with pale white petals and bright yellow cup.

Day 70 - March 11th

More and more blossom can be seen when walking around the village. Such humble flowers but so so pretty,
