Day 36 - February 5th

My mum gave me a pot of hyacinths a couple of weeks ago and they are now flowering.

Day 35 - February 4th

Lara has been doing a spot of painting.

Day 34 - February 3rd

The pile of books that I have read or will be reading for the book club is growing.

Day 33 - February 2nd

Tonight we spent the evening at a party to celebrate an engagement and a birthday.

Day 32 - February 1st

Millie and I had a very snowy walk this morning. The snow that a lot of the country had previous seen finally arrived here overnight.

Day 31 - January 31st

When I went outside this morning to scrape the windscreen of the car, the temperature gauge was showing -4 degrees. Brrrrrrr .... cold!

Day 30 - January 30th

Today we had a light snowfall. Some parts of the country have had worse but we have got away lightly.

Day 29 - January 29th

I bought my first bunch of daffodils this week. A few hours in the warm and they are in fully open.

Day 28 - January 28th

This evening I did some scrapbooking.

Day 27 - January 27th

This weekend has been the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, so today between 10 and 11 we sat and watched the birds in our garden. We counted 7 woodpigeons, 1 blackbird and 1 robin and submitted out results.

Day 26 - January 26th

It was very cold today and muddy too but Millie loves her walks whatever the weather.

Day 25 - January 25th

My favourite violets.

Day 24 - January 24th

I've mentioned before that we have an area of the garden where any pots of indoor bulbs are planted once they have stopped flowering. The Hyacinths planted here in previous years are now flowering.

Day 23 - January 23rd

We awoke to a very thick ice on the cars this morning. Gotta love starting the day by scraping your windscreen!

Day 22 - January 22nd

The snowdrops in the garden are finally appearing.

Day 21 - January 21st

Another cold start to the day with some pretty impressive spiders webs in the garden.

Day 20 - January 20th

There was a very cold start to the day this morning. I believe this type of frost is called a 'hoarfrost'. The feathery type of frost apparently forms when the surface temperature reaches freezing point before dew starts to form.

Day 19 - January 19th

A short walk this morning over the fields. This is know as 'The Sledging Field'. I wonder whether it will see any sledging action this winter.

Day 18 - January 18th

Despite the cold weather the bulbs are obviously thriving and the crocus are now starting to flower.

Day 17 - January 17th

The periwinkle is once again growing up the fence.

Day 16 - January 16th

Couldn't resist the hot cross buns in the supermarket today,

Day 15 - January 15th

Hellebores are now flowering in Mum & Dads garden.

Day 14 - January 14th

The Polyanthus flowers are now appearing.

Day 13 - January 13th

Lara has been making dragon's eggs from polystyrene eggs and drawing pins painted with nail polish.
