Day 151 - May 31st

This week the country will be celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. I found this in the shop produced by Cadbury to mark the occasion.

Day 150 - May 30th

Today we left Lincolnshire and headed home.

On the way home we stopped at Springfields Outlet Shopping and Leisure for a couple of hours. We've driven passed it several times before but today was our first visit. The walkways were looking very patriotic with bunting ready for the celebration of the Queen' Platinum Jubilee at the end of the week.

Day 149 - May 29th

Today's weather forecast wasn't good, Rain was threatened. After breakfast we took a short walk along the riverbank.

We then dodged the rain and drove about 20mins to visit Gunby Hall, a National Trust owned country house dating from 1700 set in Victorian walled gardens at the foot of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The house was last owned by The Massingberd family who gifted it to the National Trust in 1944, contents and all.

The house had a very homely feel to it and many of the rooms were open to the public.

In the music room we were treated to a piano recital played on The Bluthner grand piano which went out to India with Diana Massingberd during her husband Archie's postings there.

The basement which runs under the entire house houses the old kitchen, the servants hall and other rooms used for food preparation and storage.

After touring the house, we had a pit stop for a drink and a bite to eat before exploring the gardens.

Hidden in the gardens we spotted several crocheted creatures - a bird and some bees.

The vast majority of flowers in the garden were in full bloom and looked beautiful. Apologies for all the photos!

We really enjoyed our visit and I would happily visit again one day.
