Day 243 - August 31st

This evening we took advantage of the dry weather and went for an evening walk. The sun was just setting.

The Sycamore keys are now on the trees. Memories of throwing these up in the air with the children and watching then spiral down to the ground.

Despite the Horse Chestnut Trees being attacked by the leaf miner moths earlier int he year, there is an abundance of green spiky cases containing conkers on the trees.

We even found an open shell already with a tiny brown conker inside on the ground.

The Oak tree at the bottom of our street appears to have suffered too this year and instead of the normal healthy acorns is instead covered in Knopper Galls caused by the gall wasp. I hadn't seen this before and had to Google it!
