Ladybird, Ladybird Fly Away Home!
I read that the 'ladybird, ladybird' rhyme dates from at least 1744. There were superstitious beliefs that ladybirds were bad luck and that the chanting of the familiar rhyme would make them fly away. Another superstition says that you should chant the verse if a ladybird happens to land on you and if it then flies away it your wish will come true.
