Too hot to go for a walk today, so instead I did some baking.

Day 171 - June 20th
We think we have solved the puzzle of why a partridge would have been hanging around our garden for the past few weeks.
Last night Tux caught this little chap and proudly bought it into the back garden. We managed to get him to drop it and, believing it was injured, we placed it in the flower border for nature to take its course.
This evening, when Wayne was watering the garden, the little bird promptly hopped out and sat in the middle of the lawn.
Given that temperatures have been in the high 20s today and assuming it wouldn't survive long on it's own, I telephoned the local vets who are known to help with wildlife cases, for advice. They agreed to take the baby bird so I popped him into a box and took him to them. They said he would be transferred to a wildlife rescue centre to hopefully be released back into the wild when he was old enough to do so.

Day 166 - June 15th
At yesterday's Good Food Show there were, as expected, lots of food stands. Some where giving away free samples and others were selling their goods. We bought this Cherry Crumble Bread from the Continental Bakery and today we sampled it. It was good.

Day 165 - June 14th
Today we visited the BBC Gardeners World Live and Good Food Summer Shows at the NEC. We started the day by looking at the show gardens outside.
We then went into the Floral Marquee which for the second year running included the International Orchid Show.
Next we headed inside to look round some of the Good Food trade stands. We had tickets for the 'Big Kitchen' theatre where we watched a cookery demonstration by John Torode and Lisa Faulkner.
After the cookery demonstration we finished looking round the trade stands for both shows and then headed back to the Floral Marquee to look at the other displays. So many beautiful flowers.
