Day 252 - September 9th

Today was an active day!

This evening Wayne & I took part in the Sunset Starlight Walk in memory of Wayne's dad, to raise money for the Garden House Hospice who looked after him when he was unwell.

It was still incredibly hot this evening but we managed to walk the 6.5mile route round Letchworth.

We started the walk at 6.30pm and finished at 8.30pm after the sun has set.

Along the route there were a few surprises - memory candles to place round the fountain, live harp music, woodland walk illuminated with fairy lights and a photo opportunity with the mascot 'Harry the Bear'

We were pleased to have participated in the event and raised over £200 for the hospice.

The Sunset Starlight walk was on top of another walk we had completed in the morning. Some of the members of our walking group were taking part in the annual sponsored Bike n Hike event organised by the Beds & Herts Historic Churches Trust, so we decided to join them for moral support.

We walked 7.5miles in the morning visiting 6 churches en route. Unlike the Sunset Starlight Walk which was on surfaced footpaths, int he morning we went cross country.

It was 32C at one point during the morning so it was a very hot walk!
