Day 214 - August 2nd

Today we drove along the coast into Pembrokeshire and to the harbour town and seaside resort of Tenby.

Parking near the South Beach we walked along the cliff paths towards the harbour.

Being up high, we had a good view of the beach.

Lara looked further out to sea with the aid of a talking telescope which gave a commentary of what she could see.

St Catherine's Island, a small tidal island, was surrounded and cut off by water....

... as were many of the smaller beaches.

We commented on what it would be like to stay at these hotels perched high on the edge of the cliffs overlooking the sea with private steps down to the beach.

Our route to the harbour took us inside the medieval town walls.

I love the colourful cottages.

These cottages by the harbour were particularly bright. They reminded me of the children's TV programme Balamory! We sat outside the 19th century St Julian's Church on the harbour front for a rest and an ice cream before continuing our walk

On our way back to the car we stopped at Castle Hill. By this time the tide had gone out and St Catherine's Island was now accessible from the Castle Beach.

There were boat trips operating from the beach and rock climbing and abseiling sessions were taking place on the island.

This evening we went to Ferryside beach again to try out the second of the stunt kites we bought with us.

It was to fun to fly ... until the wind dropped!
