Next weekend our new King, King Charles III will be crowned. In a neighbouring village this postbox topper has appeared to mark the occasion. I'm not sure if this is just a British thing but it has become a recent tradition that on many occasions (Christmas, VE Day, Halloween, etc.) postboxes, bollards and anything else you can put a hat on are sometimes adorned with knitted or crocheted toppers. The makers are often anonymous and their creations often appear in the dead on night and their removal after the event are also often just as secretly carried out.
