Day 302 - October 28th

Today we paid a brief visit to Gorleston-on-Sea. We've not visited Gorleston before but as Tripadvisor awarded in 2023 Gorleston beach a Travellers' Choice Award after being ranked within the top 10 percent of attractions across the world, as well as eighth place in the Best Beaches in UK and Channel Islands, we thought we should take a look.

Gorleston is a traditional seaside resort and the wide curving sandy beach was certainly lovely.

We walked along the prom past several rows of pastel coloured beach huts.

Close by we stumbled across a piece of art by Banksy. The Arcade Claw Machine hangs over a bench in a shelter on the seafront and appeared about 3 years ago.

During our visit the weather turned quite blustery, but we bravely walked to the end of the pier

At the end of the pier, there were several little birds hopping around. Google suggests they were Ruddy Turnstones.

Later, after our visit to Gorleston we drove to one of our favourite cafes at Waxham Barn. Wayne has become a fan of Norfolk Shortcake so it would have been rude not to buy some. Norfolk shortcake is a cross between a heavy scone and a biscuit containing lots of dried fruit and often served with jam and cream.
