Day 219 - August 7th

This week is Cowes Week and as we are staying at Cowes we walked down to the waterfront this morning to watch some of the sailing.

Despite the facts the we know nothing about sailing and don't know which boats were competing and which boats were simply watching the racing, it was still quite interesting to watch.

After watching the racing and a spot of lunch we drove along the coast to Yarmouth.

We walked up the pier. The pier is the only one left in the British Isles that is totally constructed from wood, apart from bolts, screws, etc. to hold it together .

In order to raise money to restore the pier, the name of contributors who gave £25 to the restoration fund are engraved on the wooden decking planks. Lara liked that the Owl and Pussycat had a plank.

After visiting Yarmouth we drove a short way further along the coast to Totland Bay and had a drink at a small bar/restaurant overlooking the beach and followed this with a walk along the parade and a quick walk on the beach to skim stones.
