Day 221 - August 9th

Today we went to Osborne House. We had visited the house before but as English Heritage members we decided to visit again.

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert bought the Osborne estate on the Isle of Wight in 1845. They created a private home away from court life in London and Windsor and the house and garden are very impressive. The interior (which unfortunately we couldn't photograph) is stunning.

This bench is a memorial to John Brown the Scottish personal servant and favourite of Queen Victoria for many years.

Last time we visited Osborne we didn't get to look round the walled garden due to rain but this time the rain stayed away.

After our visit to Osborne we returned to Cowes. As the end of Cowes Week was approaching the Red Arrows gave a display followed by fireworks.

There was also a brief aerial display by a Sea Vixen
