This morning we "Walked the Fields of Gold". The wheat is almost ready to harvest and judging by the number of tractors and combine harvesters we spotted on the roads when we went out this afternoon some farmers have already started their harvest.
The Oilseed Rape in the neighbouring fields has already been harvested and this morning the fields were being ploughed ready for sewing the next crop.
The field beans are looking plump but didn't look ready to be harvested for quite a while yet.
The sun shone as we walked and the butterflies and bees were making the most of the warm weather after the changeable weather we've had this past week. We spotted this rather tatty looking Small White Butterfly on a thistle .....
..... and another basking on a blackberry bush.
