Day 26 - January 26th

Opening the curtains this morning I was greeted with an amazing technicolour sky.

Day 25 - January 25th

At the weekend we were given a large tin of 'Sweet Shop' sweets. The tin didn't stay shut for long!

Day 24 - January 24th

A bright and sunny but slightly muddy walk today.

Day 23 - January 23rd

As my niece and her husband were unwell before Christmas we didn't get to see them over the festive season. Today we were finally able to get together at my Mum & Dad's house to exchange our gifts and enjoy each others company.

Little Theo has certainly grown since we last saw him and it was lovely to spend time with him.

Having had lots of practice opening presents at Christmas, today he got to practice some more.

Day 22 - January 22nd

The RSPB is holding its annual Big Garden Birdwatch on the weekend of 30-31 January. As usual, we will be taking part and our free bird watching pack has been delivered. Today I put out some extra fat blocks to try and entice a few more birds into the garden.

Day 21 - January 21st

Steven has decided that he wants to learn to drive so some essential reading was delivered today.

Day 20 - January 20th

Happy Birthday Tux. 6 today.

Day 19 - January 19th

In the garden dozens of crocuses are pocking through the earth. Spring is certainly on its way.

Day 18 - January 18th

Hyacinths in the garden will soon be flowering.

Day 17 - January 17th

Last night it snowed. It started snowing in the evening and continued into the early hours. When we awoke this morning there was a light covering.

It made everywhere look so pretty.

By the time we took Millie out, the grit on the roads had done its job and the roads were clear.

The pavements and verges were still snowy and Millie (a real fan of snow) developed a spring in her step as we headed for the fields.

The fields looked very bleak.

On returning home Millie happily raced round the garden and chased snowballs that Lara and Wayne threw for her.

There was just enough snow to build a tiny Snow Rabbit.

Later the Snow Rabbit managed to find its way onto the roof of my car!

Day 16 - January 16th

On a cold and frosty morning we took Millie for a walk.

The grass was white with frost and the leaves were also covered in icy crystals.

It was good at the end of the walk to get back in the warm.

Day 15 - January 15th

Today it's been really cold. An evening in by the fire is very welcome.

Day 14 - January 14th

One of the downsides of this time of year is that Steven has to catch his school bus in the morning when it's still dark. Lara's school bus arrives home when it's starting to get dark. Today she sent me this photo taken from the school bus on her way home.

Day 13 - January 13th

First there were Jelly Babies. Before Christmas Bassetts were selling Santa Babies. Today I bought Jelly Bunnies - fruit flavoured bunny rabbit shaped jellies.

Day 12 - January 12th

My Dad has a number of orchids in his conservatory and amongst them is a pot of teeny, tiny orchids no bigger than your thumb nail. They're very different to the usual large varieties.

Day 11 - January 11th

Nothing says 'Spring is on it's way' more than a vase of daffodils and tulips.

Day 10 - January 10th

A wet walk this morning - lots of puddles.

Day 9 - January 9th

Today we took Christopher back to University. You always know your in Nottingham when you turn off of the M1 onto Brian Clough Way!

Day 8 - January 8th

I spied lots of bulbs coming up in my Mum and Dad's garden today.

Day 7 - January 7th

Followers of my blog may remember that before Christmas I bought a Chocolate Dessert Pizza. Tonight we decided to try it before Christopher returned to Uni.

It was OK - different, but OK, but I don't think I'll be buying another!

Day 6 - January 6th

Today we took the Christmas Tree down and the decorations were  packed away for another year.

Tux hadn't really shown much interest in the tree before but curiosity got the better of him this evening when we started to take the tree apart. He sat as close as he could get so that he could oversee the activity and make sure we were doing it right.

Day 5 - January 5th

A childhood memory suddenly popped into my head today. I was eating a Quality Street Toffee Penny (left over from Christmas). I hadn't eaten one for a long time but the flavour instantly transferred me back to when I was a child and I suddenly thought of 'Bluebird Toffees'. Whatever happened to Bluebird Toffees?

Day 4 - January 4th

There are several Hellebores flowering in my Mum and Dad's garden.

Day 3 - January 3rd

Lara bought a 3D pen with some money she was given for Christmas. After a little practise she made herself some over-sized specs.

Day 2 - January 2nd

A wet start to the new year.

Day 1 - January 1st (New Years Day)

Happy New Year Everyone!

After a late night we wrapped ourselves up and went for a morning walk. It was quite cold and wet under foot.

I managed to take a rare photo of Wayne with Millie where they are both looking  at the camera.

Day 365 - December 31st

We celebrated New Year quietly tonight at home. We watched the fireworks in London on the television.

We played 'Monopoly Millionaire'.

As there weren't enough playing pieces for us all, we had to improvise. Instead of being a plastic car, boat, airplane, etc. I started the game as a Quality Street Coconut Eclair. As the game progressed I was upgraded to a Green Triangle before ending up as a Toffee Penny!

Despite my non-conventional playing pieces, I won the game so I may have to use chocolates and sweets as playing pieces again!
