We saw this tiny red poppy in the churchyard today.

Day 151 - May 30th

Last week I mentioned to a friend that Bee Orchids often grew beside a certain footpath at this time of year. The next day she text me to say that she had spotted some, so this morning we set off to find them ourselves. Lo and behold, we found some in exactly the place I had described to my friend.

There weren't that many flowers nut those we saw were lovely.

Whilst walking today we spotted these beautiful, huge red poppies outside a house. They were stunning.

Today one of our customers. who is unable to open to the public during the lockdown, kindly sent us some gifts for our staff. Such a kind gesture.

I bought the book for my great nephews. The book, inspired by the 'Thank You Baked Potato' song has been created by comedian Matt Lucas to raise money for FeedNHS.

Day 130 - May 9th

I've posted previously about the painted stones being hidden around the village for children to find. Today we spotted a family of Chaffys from the 'Find Chaffy' books.

Day 129 - May 8th (75th Anniversary of VE Day)

Today is the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. The early May Bank holiday was moved to today to coincide with the celebrations. Celebrations had been planned all over the country but due to the lockdown many of these had to be abandoned. However, a timetable of socially distanced activities was suggested.

I observed the 2 minutes silence in front of the television watching Charles and Camilla laying a wreath at Balmoral.

Later we set up tables and chairs in our gateway so we could 'join' neighbours for a socially distanced picnic. One of the neighbours played Churchills speech and the last post and then played music from the wartime era.

We enjoyed cream teas and strawberies washed down with Champagne.

It was nice to chat with neighbours from different sides of the road and after an initial reluctance to join in we were glad we did.

Meanwhile, my Mum & Dad were sat in front of their garage enjoying their socially distanced picnic with their neighbours.

The lovely weather we are having at the moment is certainly a blessing for those people who are having to stay home all day due to furloughing, etc and those trying to entertain children who are not at school. Thankfully the nice weather has continued this weekend and we have been able to enjoy walking Millie in the sunshine.
