Evening trip to Letchworth.

Day 28 - January 28th

Today I counted birds in the garden from the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. Unfortunately there weren't many feathery visitors to the garden during the one hour bird watch, but maybe that could have been due to my helper who choose to sit very close to the window during the hour!

Day 27 - January 27th

Today we went for a 7.5mile walk from Hertford to Ware. 

We left Hertford and headed towards Ware past Hertford Lock and onto the Kings Meads Nature Reserve.

On the pillars of the Kingsmead Viaduct which carries the A10 over the nature reserve, wildlife murals have been painted.

Each mural displays one wild species which can be found within the reserve across the seasons.

Nearing Ware we found ourselves walking beside the water where several canal boats were moored.

After a brief stop in Ware for a drink we walked back to Hertford. Our return route was almost entirely on the towpath next to the canal.

We passed numerous boats and the weir and made our way back into Hertford.

Day 26 - January 26th

Snowdrops in the garden are now in flower.

Day 24 - January 24th

We recently upgraded out Air Fryer. I never baked any treats in our old macine but decided today to have a go at making some scones in the new one. I think I got the temperature or timing wrong, but despite them not looking too good they tasted lovely. Hopefully next time I'll get then right.

Day 23 - January 23rd

My Cyclamen is finally starting to show buds.

Day 22 - January 22nd

 Last night Storm Isha wrecked havoc across the UK.

Our greenhouse door was blowout! It could have been a lot worse but, as it cleanly fell forward onto the soft grass, it wasn't too big a job to fix it back in place.

Today we made a trip to Welwyn Garden City shopping centre. Unfortunately the item we specifically went to buy wasn't in stock so will have to be ordered instead,

Day 19 - January 19th

This evening we went to the cinema to see Wonka. 

Day 18 - January 18th

Today I was given a gift of some flowers which had been rescued from a supermarket.

They were on their 'best before date' but still gorgeous.

Today I made a few cheese scones.
