This morning we went for a walk at Bedford. After the recent flood warnings put in place by the Environment Agency we were interested to see the state of the River Great Ouse which runs through the town.
Needless to say the water level was extremely high and the river had burst it's bank in many places with the water flooding the adjoining land.
We parked at Priory Park and planned to walk to the town centre along the cycle path. We didn't get far before we had to turn around and take a different route because the path was impassable. It certainly was the weather for ducks …. and geese !
The Longholme Cafe, near the Butterfly Bridge, had been surrounded by water and forced to close.
Continuing along The Embankment large parts of the path were underwater and trees normally on the bankside were paddling in the river.
