Day 267 - September 23rd

I noticed these really delicate pale pink flowers in Mum & Dad's garden today. I assume they're Lilies.

Day 266 - September 22nd

The hanging baskets at the front of the house are well past their best but it seems a shame to take remove them when the 'Million Belles' are still looking beautiful.

Day 265 - September 21st

Thankfully I've not seen many Dandelion Clocks in the garden this year but I spotted this one today.

Day 264 - September 20th

The Clematis flowers are starting to fade now and are being replaced by their spidery looking seed heads.

Day 263 - September 19th

The fuchsias are socking up the late summer / early autumn sunshine before the first frosts arrive.

Day 262 - September 18th

Today we took Steven to Brunel University.

He has a nice room on campus overlooking the river but unfortunately I completely forgot to take any photos whilst we were there. I have borrowed this photo from the internet which shows his halls.

Day 261 - September 17th

Tomorrow Steven heads off to University. His bags and boxes are packed and now we just have to wait and see if they'll all fit in the car!

Day 260 - September 16th

When visiting the bank today we managed to get some of the new plastic five pound notes which were launched on Tuesday.

the new notes, smaller than the old notes, are supposed to be cleaner, safer and stronger. On the front is the Queen ....

... and on the reverse Winston Churchill

An interesting feature of the new notes is a see through window with a Big Ben in gold foil.

Day 259 - September 15th

I picked up a spiky conker case whilst out this morning. I was surprised when I opened it to find 'twin' conkers!

Day 258 - September 14th

Today was Tux' annual booster day. He wasn't too pleased about being put in his carrier to travel to the vets.

Day 257 - September 13th

Today was the UK's hottest September day since 1911. When I left work the thermometer in my car was showing 34 degrees C! Pheeeewwwww!

Day 256 - September 12th

I spotted these huge Rose Hips in the hedgerow today whilst walking Millie.

Day 255 - September 11th

After yesterdays rain, today the sky was blue, the sun shone and the rain stayed away. We took Millie for a walk.

Unfortunately one of the farmers hasn't yet reinstated the footpath across his ploughed field and it was quite heavy going.

We were quite surprised to see that the area which had been cleared by the drainage board in the spring has recovered quite considerably.

Today .....

March ......

I had feared that all the wild flowers would be missing this autumn but there was still plenty of colour.

Day 254 - September 10th

Although the rain stayed away last night for the Sundown Cinema, today it has been very wet and the slugs were out in force.

Day 253 - September 9th

This evening we finally went to the open air Sundown Cinema. We had booked to go last year but the screening was cancelled due to rain. We booked again to go in August this year but it was postponed due to gale force winds! Finally this evening the weather was in our favour.

The event took place at Hitchin Lavender and was a screening of Star Wars - The Force Awakens. Before the event members of the Joker Squad SWG were collecting money for charity and Lara was happy to have her photo taken with them.

The film was shown on a huge inflatable screen and despite there being lots of people, having a good view wasn't a problem.

By the time the film started at 8.30 it was quiet dark and there was a great atmosphere - and the rain and wind stayed away.

It was a great evening and one which we hope to repeat again next year.
