Day 208 - July 27th

Finally, today it has rained! It hasn't rained for such a long time (as can be seen from the dead grass in this photo). We didn't get as much rain as predicted but more is forecast for the weekend before the weather warms up again.

Day 207 - July 26th

I bought this today -  a Kit Kat made from Ruby Chocolate. The Ruby Kit Kat was first introduced in Japan and Korea earlier this year and has now been launched in the UK. The ruby chocolate is supposed to have a berry-fruitiness flavour. We'll see when we try it if it does.

Day 206 - July 25th

The first tomato harvest this year.

Day 205 - July 24th

A trip to the cinema tonight to see Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom.

Day 204 - July 23rd

Today Lara made lemonade. It was delicious.

Day 203 - July 22nd

Today Wayne, Christopher and Lara spent some time fishing. It was very hot and unfortunately the fish weren't biting.

Day 202 - July 21st

This afternoon we visited the Revs & Rhythms - a classic car and music event at nearby Shefford. Christopher was exhibiting his Spitfire alongside many other classic and vintage vehicles.

It was an extremely hot afternoon and so we didn't visit for long but we managed to look at all the cars and stopped for drinks and to listen to some of the live music on the stage.

Day 201 - July 20th

Schools out for Summer!

Lara has been excitedly awaiting the last day of school, not only because it means six weeks off school but also because I had agreed that she could put a semi-permanent hair colour on her hair when school finished. Not long after she got home she rushed upstairs to the bathroom to apply the green colouring to the lower part of her hair. It was quite subtle but she loved it.

Day 200 - July 19th

Whilst taking Lara to her last orthodontist appointment this morning I spotted these gorgeous flowers growing in baskets on the railings of a nearby property. They must be watering them a lot to keep them looking this good in the extreme heat.

Day 199 - July 18th

Our tomato plants in the greenhouse are coming along nicely despite the hot weather.

Day 198 - July 17th

Today was Lara's school House Olympics which called for green hair to match her house colours.

Day 197 - July 16th

Lara's been making paper cranes.

Day 196 - July 15th

I've been scrapbooking today. It involved making lots of paper squares from paper circles!

Day 195 - July 14th

I noticed this bee on the Buddleia this morning busy collecting pollen.

Day 194 - July 13th

These white dahlias are once again flowering in my Mum & dad's garden.

Day 193 - July 12th

I've been playing with paper and glue this week and am making a little mini album. I've just got to add some photos and finishing touches.

Day 192 - July 11th

Very few flowers seem to be surviving the heat but these delicate white hydrangeas seem to be doing alright.

Day 191 - July 10th

The Buddleia bush is in full flower and the butterflies and bees are making the most of it.

Day 190 - July 9th

There were Orchid flowers on the tables at the party on Saturday. I was given one to take home, I just have to make sure it doesn't die now!

Day 189 - July 8th

Today, after yesterdays party, some of us joined Mum & Dad at our local pub/restaurant for Sunday Lunch. It was delicious and Mum & Dad were made to feel very special by the restaurant staff with free champagne and a card.

Day 188 - July 7th

Today we celebrated my Mum & Dad's Diamond Wedding Anniversary with a party for family and close friends.

Day 187 - July 6th

This year in my Mum & Dad's garden there are several large purple poppies. They seem to be thriving in the very hot weather unlike many other flowers. I think I tried to collect some seed from them last year to put in my own garden but can't remember what happened to them.

Day 186 - July 5th

I spotted several butterflies on the grass today including this Small Tortoiseshell.

Day 185 - July 4th

Scrapbooking again!

Day 184 - July 3rd

The Lavender is one fo the few plants thriving in the current hot weather.
