Hyacinths in the garden are starting to appear.

We recently went to Costco and Christopher asked us to pick up a tub of Sourdough Pretzels. The tub was huge and the pretzels are too. Its takign quite a while to get through them.

Lara bought this book mark for me a few years ago from a little gift shop in Norfolk. I really like it and have a similar one in the shape of a tree.

Day 27 - January 27th

Even in the rain the polyanthus look lovely.

Today we took part in the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch. There weren't that many birds about.

Blue skies and sunshine.

It's hard to believe that when it is so cold, the trees can be already coming into bud, but they are.

Day 19 - January 19th

Cold start to the day. The ice patterns on the car windscreens looked like feathers.

A very muddy walk across the fields today but in the sunshine it was quite pleasant.

Whilst sorting out I came across a bag of Christmas tree chocolates that never made it to the Christmas tree, I'm sure someone will eat them.

Two weeks into the new year and I finally had some time to do some scrapbooking today.

My hyacinth basket is now in flower on the kitchen windowsill. This year I planted a delicate pink variety,

Mum and Dad have quote a few Lenten Roses  (Hellebores) flowering in their garden.

Day 12 - January 12th

The daffodils in the back garden are starting to shoot.

Day 11 - January 11th

This mornings walk was dry and bright but there were lots of puddles on the way.

Crops are growing well in the fields.

Millie enjoyed having a run and a good sniff.

In the hedgerows there was plenty of 'Old Man's Beard' .....

.... and Catkins.

Day 10 - January 10th

After seeing snowdrops in the Churchyard just after Christmas, I was pleased to see a clump in flower in my Mum & Dad's garden. They always seem to flower later in their garden than at the churchyard.

Day 9 - January 9th

I tried a new recipe today - Spicy Cajun Chicken.

Day 8 - January 8th

My Mum gave me a bunch of daffodils. They were tight buds when she gave them to me but a few hours in the warm house and they have opened up.

Day 7 - January 7th

Lara has been doing some needle-felting. Today's creation is a tiny Narwhal.

Day 6 - January 6th

Once the Christmas decorations have been packed away the house looks so empty. We've left the twig-lights and some candles out and the Poinsettias will stay for the time being.

Day 5 - January 5th

Twelfth night approaching means the Christmas decorations have come down and been packed away until next Christmas.

Day 4 - January 4th

During our chilly dog walk this morning we were greeted by these chaps.

I spotted a few violets tentatively flowering in the cold today.

Lara has been sewing. She finished this dog yesterday.

Happy New Year.

After a chilled morning, this afternoon Wayne and I wen for a walk around Wrest Park. 

Inside the house the Christmas tree was still in place.

Outside we enjoyed a leisurely, albeit rather chilly, stroll.
