Day 118 - April 28th

25 July 1936 - 19 March 2022

Today family and friends gathered for my father-in-law's funeral. I (still isolating and still testing positive) was obviously unable to attend the service but I did drive to the cemetery to watch the committal from a safe distance before driving back home to the sanctuary of my bedroom.

Day 116 - April 26th

Today I tested positive for Covid-19! Whilst it is no longer a legal requirement to isolate, to protect my family and those I work with I've decided to isolate and have been doing so since yesterday morning when I had a very feint line on a lateral flow test followed by two negative tests. I really thought that first test yesterday with a very feint line was a false-positive test (because apart from a slightly sore throat on Sunday evening I've had no other symptoms) but the line on today's test is far more visible and pretty conclusive.

Day 102 - April 12th

This afternoon we made our first visit this year to Wrest Park.

It was the first time we had visited in nearly a year and were interested to see that more of the house was now open to the public.

Outside the gardens had been planted up for summer.

Another change was in The Old Diary which is now a sculpture gallery housing some of the estate's most beautiful statues, now restored to their former glory, whilst replicas are on display outside in the grounds.

We walked round the grounds.

We visited The Orangery which fans of the TV show Bridgerton may recognise as the orangery where Prudence Fetherington and  Lord Jack Fetherington are caught alone forcing them into marrying.

In the Pear Orchard the grass is left to grow naturally until summer but it is also full of heritage varieties of crocus and narcissus.
