Day 59 - February 28th

Tux loves an empty box or bag so when he found this shoe box on the bed he couldn't resist jumping into it and settling down.

Day 56 - February 25th

This afternoon we returned to Marston Vale Millenium Country Park for a walk. It started out quite chilly but later the sun came out and it was warm.

There was quite a lot of blossom in the hedgerows - a sure sign that spring is on its way.

Day 50 - February 19th

This morning we did a circular walk from Shillington to Pirton and back to Shillington. The weather was glorious - bright and sunny.

There were plenty of signs of spring on the route including quite a few Catkins.

I loved this round door in a garden wall.

Day 49 - February 18th

This morning we decided to walk more of the footpaths in and around Letchworth including more of the Letchworth Greenway. We parked at Manor Wood at Willian and started our walk from there.

In the wood we came across a large carving of Telford Morton (1916–2001), a keen gardener and allotment holder and active member of the Letchworth Garden City community. The sculpture shows him standing, and seemingly emerging from the many different vegetables that he grew on his allotment.

Our walk then took us alongside and through fields.....

.... and eventually we joined The Greenway.

The Greenway took us to Willian Arboretum. Who knew Willian had an Arboretum?

The arboretum is quite small (really just a wood!) but boasts 30 varieties of tree.

Day 43 - February 12th

This morning we went for a short walk at Moggerhanger Park

At this time of year the woodland walk is a carpet of snowdrops. On first entering the woods we couldn't see many, but the further we walked the more we saw.

There is also a walled garden at Moggerhanger Park but at this time of year it was very bare with just the odd Hellebore in flower.

After our walk at Moggerhanger Park we decided to drive onto Priory Park at Bedford for a walk around the lake and woodlands.

Despite it being a very calm day, there were several sailing boats on the lake.

Several footpaths lead from Priory Park including one to Cardington Lock so we explored that area too.
