Day 327- November 23rd
I love the different Jelly Babies that Maynards Bassetts produce at various times of the year. This year they are also selling Christmassy Wine Gums.
Day 326- November 22nd
We woke this morning to a very heavy frost. The cobwebs looked almost crocheted.
The plants looked like they had been sprinkled with glitter.
Day 325- November 21st
Letchworth is getting ready for Christmas with several Christmas trees appearing in the town centre.
Day 321 - November 17th
It's been a couple of weeks since we've walked over the fields so were surprised to see the crops were really starting to come through.
Day 319 - November 15th
A second rip to the eye clinic at Bedford Hospital this morning. Thankfully all is well and I don't need to go back again.
Day 315 - November 11th
This morning we attended the annual village Remembrance Day parade and service. Being the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, there were a lot more wreaths laid at the war memorial this year.
Day 314 - November 10th
Today Wayne & Christopher went to the Lancaster Insurance Classic Car Show at Birmingham's NEC. Wayne sent me a few photos.
Day 313 - November 9th
This year to mark a century since Armistice day, one in six paper poppies will feature a "gold leaf" with the years '1918-2018' printed on it to mark the special occasion. There were quite a few in the box when I bought our poppies today.
Day 312 - November 8th
On returning from my morning walk with Millie today, I met our neighbour who was stood on the pavement with his camera pointing at the sky. Looking up I realised he was takign a photo of a rainbow. When I got to out front door I too decided to take a photo.
Day 310 - November 6th
Our autumn bedding plants have now been put into tubs are are doing well despite the frosty starts to some mornings.
Day 309 - November 5th
I recently bought a bag of Maynards Bassetts "Peace Babies" which are being sold in aid of Help For Heroes. I wasn't sure what the "Peace Babies" would look like. I thought maybe they would be shaped like little soldiers so was disappointed when i opened the bag to find that they were just regular "Jelly Babies". I was intrigued as to why they were called Peace babies so did a little bit of research. It appears that in 1918 Bassett's in Sheffield produced "Peace Babies" to mark the end of World War I. Production was then suspended during World War II due to wartime shortages but in 1953 the product was relaunched as "Jelly Babies".
Day 307 - November 3rd
Tonight we joined the rest of the village for the Annual Firework Display at the playing field. As usual it was a good display ...... and we won a raffle prize!
Day 304 - October 31st
Lara bought some fangs for Halloween which were moulded to fit over her teeth. They looked very realistic when worn.
Day 302 - October 29th
Lara had an inset day at school today so whilst she was at home she carved a pumpkin ready for Halloween.
Day 301 - October 28th
Now we are home it certainly seems much colder than it was last week. Cold enough to write in the ice on my car windscreen!
