The first part of the journey was mostly on motorways and included the M6 toll road. Cash is no longer accepted at the toll booths (presumably due to Covid) and payment can only be made by card or online pre-payment. Whereas previously there have been people in the toll booths collecting payments from the hundreds of vehicles that pass by each day, today we saw just one solitary man watching the cars pass by. A sign of the times I guess.

Day 206 - July 25th
Today Wayne, Christopher & Lara went fishing for the first time this year. Last year they were unable to join their usual fishing club due to it being oversubscribed, but this year they managed to get their memberships and were pleased to return to somewhere familiar.
Wayne sent me this photo of the view from the bank ..... I don't think there were many caught fish to photograph!

Day 195 - July 14th
Thankfully the result of the covid test was negative and so we are all free again to go to work, etc. Yesterday whilst isolating, Lara and I made a model airplane from a kit I had found whilst doing some sorting the other week. Now we know the kit is complete we can pass it onto someone else to enjoy.

Day 194 - July 13th
An unexpected visit to the Covid testing centre today means that the whole family is now in self-isolating until a negative result is received or if a positive result is received for longer.

Day 192 - July 11th
I looked out of the window this evening to see Tux sat on top of our neighbours shed 'batting' the glass in my dad's greenhouse. On closer inspection I realised that there was a cat 🐱 inside the greenhouse and that was what Tux was interested in. When the door of the greenhouse was opened, we realised that the cat must have climbed in through the windows in the roof which had automatically closed when temperatures dropped and that the cat had been trapped inside between the glass and the net shading. Thankfully Dad managed to pull the netting down and the cat went on its way.

Day 191 - July 10th
It's been a few weeks since we've been for a walk over the fields so were quite surprised by how much the wheat had grown.

Day 190 - July 9th
The Cosmos flowers Wayne grew are all different colours. This one is in a pot on the patio and is a delicate white and pink whilst others are a hot pink colour.

Day 184 - July 3rd
Today we took Lara to the south coast again to meet up with some friends.
In the afternoon we spent some time on the seafront at Eastbourne.
We saw the Bandstand which was built in the 1930s and is now an important venue for live concerts on the south coast.
And, we sat and watched the world go by whilst enjoying an ice-cream.
In the morning we visited nerby Michelham Priory the site of a former Augustine Priory.
The property was built by Augustinian monks in the 13th century, and is surrounded by England’s longest medieval filled water moat. In Tudor times it was added to and owned by Thomas Cromwell and Anne of Cleves and by World War II it became a base for Canadian troops, the East Sussex headquarters of the Auxiliary Territorial Service and in later life as a country house.
The house was open to the public and we were able to view rooms include Victorian and Tudor kitchens, an evacuee’s bedroom from the Second World War, a Prior’s room, and an Undercroft.
Outside we were able to explore the numerous different gardens.
