Day 191 - July 10th

We spent today on the south coast. Eastbourne seafront was very hot and very busy.

There were lots of people on the beach and in the sea.

Today the 'IronBourne' long-distance triathlon was taking place in the town and the event was also hosting the  British Triathlon Federation Middle Distance National Championships. IronBourne is a long-distance triathlon (often referred to as an Ironman triathlon or iron-distance triathlon) consisting of a 2.4mile (3.8km) swim, a 112mile (180km) cycle and a 26.2mile (42.2km) full marathon distance run.

The swim and cycle events had already taken place but we arrived on the seafront in time to see the 26.2mile (42.2km) full marathon distance run taking place on the prom.

As well as visiting Eastbourne, we also made another visit to Herstmonceux Castle which was just as interesting as ever and looked lovely in the sunshine.

The gardens were in full bloom.

This beetle was quite scary.

This girl still hadn't finished reading her book.

These metal sculptures of hares were a new addition to the garden and available to buy.

I love these hares carved from tree stumps....

..... and also this gnarly old hollow tree.
