We are really enjoying exploring the area using a new GPS-enabled app of walking routes. Today we found ourselves at Watton at Stone. Our walk took us from Watton at Stone to Stapleford through the Woodhall Park Estate.
We left the village and walked into open countryside with views over the fields of the spectacular Heath Mount School.
In recent years the estate in partnership with Affinity Water have been carrying out a major restoration project to create a variety of river features and allow fish to travel upstream.
After passing the weir and crossing the bridge we continued alongside the river passing a barn where sheep were bedded down.
We were intrigued by the ladder stile over a wall and of course had to give it a go.
Continuing on our route we walked through Clusterbolt Woods where snowdrops were appearing.
Soon we were back at Watton at Stone where we found a lovely café/bakery where we had some lunch before heading home.

Oh the snowdrops - I do like those a lot. Such a beautiful place to wander or ramble :)
