Happy Easter!
We have spent the day quietly at home. We shared a roast dinner followed by easter egg cheesecake.

Today we walked more of the New River Path and River Lee Towpath, a circular walk from Rye House to Broxbourne and back.
There was lots to see on the walk including Dobbs Weir. It was a type of weir I had never seen before, with a number of v-drops.
As we walked along the paths we passed a number of canal boats, several locks and as usual plenty of ducks, swans and geese.
At Hoddesdon we passed underneath a bridge and were surprised to find murals in a similar style to those we had seen on our first walk in the area.
Today I had a baking disaster. I was supposed to be baking Easter cookies using cooker stamps. Unfortunately in the oven the embossed designs melted away and the shaped cookies all merged into each other. The result was a batch of tasty cookies which unfortunately looked nothing like they should have.
This afternoon we went for an impromptu walk. It was quite chilly but the sun shone and it really felt like spring was upon us.
We walked what we affectionately call 'The Pirton Loop', which we've walked many times before, but which looks different at different times of the year.
Some of the fields we walked through were bare whilst in others, crops are starting to appear.
Cowslips were aplenty......
... and sticky buds were starting to unfurl.
Bumble Bees had found the dandelion flowers and were busy collecting pollen and nectar.
I've seen this blackbird in the garden every morning this week. I assume he and his mate must have a nest nearby.
