Day 308 - November 3rd

This morning we went for a circular walk from Ayot Green to Brocket Hall. We last walked this way last November and really enjoyed that walk. So we were keen to do it again.

We parked at The Waggoners pub at Ayot |Green and headed out of the village towards the Ayot Greenway.

This sign made me chuckle. Were we supposed to be quiet walking down the road?

Soon we found ourselves on the Greenway which is a disused rail track which runs from Welwyn Garden City to Wheathampstead in Hertfordshire.

Throughout the walk we spotted LOTS of fungi.

I was particularly chuffed to spot this Fly Agaric mushroom in the grounds of Brocket Hall despite it being broken at the base.

Brocket Hall is a spectacular stately home and has two championship golf courses within the grounds.

The grounds are stunning with the River Lea flowing through the estate. The river has been dammed to create a lake and beside the weir is a very ornate bridge.
