Day 109 - April 19th

Today we visited the River Lee Country Park. We have visited several times before and parked as usual in a car park at Cheshunt near to the River Lee.

Just a short walk from the car park is the White Water Centre. When we arrived, it looked very different to how we have seen it before. It was empty!

They were checking it for damage and such, but just before we left, they turned on the water, and it began filling up really fast. Sadly, we didn't have time to stick around and see it get deep enough, so no canoeists for us to watch today.

Back by the river we continued on our way.

We saw a heron on the other side of the water ....

.... Coots nesting .....

..... and Cormorants sunning themselves.

On a fence we stumbled upon a 'Randon Act of Crochet Kindness' (a small handmade gift for a stranger to keep). Such a lovely idea and it made me smile.

We spotted some familiar ducks and geese in the woods – they're like the highwaymen of the bird world! They lie in ambush, hoping for a snack from anyone strolling by. Poor things were out of luck today, though, as we had nothing to offer them.
