Day 101 - April 11th

This bronze statue called 'Joyride' was sculptured by Czechoslovakian artist Franta Belsky in 1958 and has stood in Stevenage Town Square since.

Not a particular attractive town, Stevenage was the 1st of the post war New Towns (or London overspill towns), and was granted New Town status in the mid 1940's.

Thats a really strange sculpture! I keep thinking the baby is going to fall off the back any minute - not what I would call a joy ride! great photo.
