Day 120 - April 30th

Today I opened a new box of eggs which I had recently bought from Tesco and was surprised to find they were white rather than the usual common brown sold in the UK. 

A quick google revealed that Tesco is selling more white eggs now as the national shortage continues. Unprecedented demand and a shortage of eggs has led Tesco to stock more of the rarer white variety. The eggs have been part of the chain's standard egg range since early 2020 and were initially introduced because more people were eating at home as well as baking at the start of the pandemic. Now, following an initial trial, Tesco has decided continue to sell white free range eggs which had normally been for the restaurant trade.

Day 119 - April 29th

Today we spent the day in London. (Very heavy photo post!!!)

Our trip was primarily to visit The Fans Strike Back Star Wars Exhibition in South Kensington. The Exhibition was an exhibition of hundreds of unique collectables and figurines collected by Star Wars fans including life size figures, armour, light sabres, helmets, etc.

If you're a Star Wars fan I would recommend a visit.

After visiting the exhibition we then moved onto the Natural History Museum which was a short walk away.

Luckily we had pre-booked our entrance tickets so were able to walk straight in. Had we note pre-booked we would have had to join the hour+ queue. Inside it was VERY busy!

I am always wowed by this museum building. It first opened it's doors in 1881 and is one of Britain's most striking examples of Romanesque architecture which is considered a work of art in it's own right.

We knew we wouldn't have time to see everything and because of the crowds decided just to see a few collections - dinosaurs, mammals and human evolution. 

It had been many years since I last visited the museum and the displays and the way the exhibits were displays was very different.

Sadly Dippy the Dinosaur no longer graces the main hall and in 2017 was replaced by a blue whale skeleton.

After a very hot and crowded museum visit we decided to walk to Kensington Garden for some fresh air.

We passed the Royal Albert Hall.

Opposite the Royal Albert Hall, on the edge of Kensington Gardens is the impressive 54m tall Albert Memorial.

All too soon our day came to an end and we headed back to the train station and home.
