Day 258 - September 14th

Today we had a quiet day - a walk on the beach, lunch at a nearby café and a meal out in the evening.

Our apartment is close to the Sandbanks Chain Ferry so we decided to take the ferry across the entrance to Poole Harbour from Sandbanks to Studland. The ferry runs every 20 minutes so we were able to watch from our balcony for the ferry to arrive and then jump on for the ride.

Once off the ferry we followed part of the South West Coast Path.

The South West Coast Path starts near the ferry access road and a large metal sign marks the official start of the path, depicting a few of the sights and wildlife to be found along the 630 mile path.

We didn't walk the full 630 miles, but instead walked a short way along Shell Bay beach a Knoll Beach. As the name suggests, on Shell Bay beach there were quite a few shells to find.

There were also lots of sail boats passing by.

Soon we turned inland through the dunes and heathland.

Soon we found ourselves back at the ferry and travelled back across the water to Sandbanks just in time for lunch.

The food was good and the hot chocolate was particularly delicious.

We spent the afternoon chilling in the apartment but did venture out for ice creams which we took back to the apartment.

In the evening we visited Riggers Restaurant and Bar in Poole.

The waterfront restaurant is part of the RNLI college and is run by the RNLI. The food was good.

Afterwards we headed back to the apartment from where we were able to watch the numerous boats passing including huge ferries and cargo ships.
