Day 185 - July 4th

Today was a big day for Lara. We had been saying for ages that we would take the stabilisers off her bike and help her learn to ride without them. It was long overdue. So, today we made the effort and took the stabilisers off, drove her (and Steven) to somewhere where there is lots of flat grass where we knew she could practice safely without any obstacles to get in the way and where if she fell off she wouldn't hurt herself. We needn't have worried and obviously should have done it sooner! It only took one push off from Wayne and she was away! She got her balance straight away and after that first push she even managed to push off herself, something which is quite tricky to grasp when first learning to ride a bike on your own. We are so proud of her! I think this photo will be my photo of the day .........

.......... although I like these as well. Hopefully if I've uploaded them correctly there should be a couple of little video clip at the end of this post too. (I should say that the long sleeves and long trousers weren't because the weather has suddenly turned cold. They were to protect her from grazes if she fell off - we needn't have bothered!)

oh what a clever girl! There will be no stopping here now. Lovely collection of photos. I also really like the one of her brother running after her and the sideways portrait shot where is is smiling such a lot. and the video did work!
