Day 183 - July 2nd

 This morning we explored Oughtonhead Common in Hitchin.

Oughtonhead Common is a 17.4 hectare Local Nature Reserve and is owned and managed by North Hertfordshire District Council and home to the Oughtonhead Common nature reserve.

The River Oughton flows along the edge of the site with the Common lying on its floodplain

The common supports all sorts of wildlife and and plants and itrs grazed by English Longhorn cattle.

In an area of rough grass we saw one or two Common Spotted Orchids.
