This morning we went for a walk to Ivinghoe Beacon and along a small section of the Ridgeway. After a brief spot of rain at the start of the walk, it then turned out to be a lovely morning.
The hill is an ancient signal point, which was used in times of crisis to send messages across long distances. It is also the site of an early Iron Age hillfort protected as a scheduled monument.
The views from the top were spectacular.
The Ridgeway is an ancient trackway described as Britain's oldest road. For at least 5,000 years travellers have used the Ridgeway.

Beautiful spot for a walk. A road that is 5,000 years old - so many travelers have walked or ridden over this road, makes you wonder where, why & what had them traveling.
