Day 227 - August 15th

This morning we drove to Purbek Park caught the train from Norden station to Corfe Castle.

The dramatic ruins of Corfe Castle stand on a hill overlooking the village with the same name, and is the property of the National Trust.

Corfe Castle was built shortly after the Norman conquest of 1066. Since then, it has seen its fair share of battles, murders and miracles, and been home to kings, knights and a princess.

Visitors to Corfe Castle can wander around the ruined walls and climb the castle keep.

The views from the top were spectacular.

After exploring the castle ruins, we stopped at the Courtyard café for a bite to eat. the cakes and scones were yummy!

We then caught the steam train back to Norden station.

As the day was still young we decided to drive the short distance to Swanage.

Swanage was very busy. We enjoyed an ice-cream, a quick paddle in the very cold sea and sat by the beach for a while before returning to our holiday home.
