Today we visited Conwy.
On Conwy's Quayside we saw what claims to be The Smallest House in Great Britain. Created in the 16th century it was occupied until 1900 and has a floor area of just 3.05 by 1.8 metres.
The main reason for visiting Conwy was to visit the castle. Conwy Castle is a magnificent medieval castle built more than 700 years ago.
Thanks to spiral staircases in its great towers you can walk a complete circuit around the battlements of the castle.
From high up we could see the effect the long dry summer with little to no rainfall has had on the landscape and in particular this bowling green.
Steven and I climbed to the top of one of the tower from which you got an excellent view of the three bridges across the river Conwy.
The oldest of the three is the middle one, Conwy Suspension Bridge, built by Thomas Telford in 1826.The one on the right is Conwy Railway Bridge built by Robert Stephenson in 1849 and the one on the left, the Conwy Road Bridge, was completed in 1958.
After our visit to the castle we had a look around the area surrounding it.
This life sized knight stood outside 'The Knight Shop' which specialised in historical gifts.
We took a short walk on top of the Town Walls. We didn't walk far but they run for three quarters of a mile, with 21 towers and three original gateways along their length.
Later, back at the cottage, Doti visited us again.
