Day 220 - August 8th

Today we left Anglesey again to visit nearby Caernarfon Castle. Caernarfon Castle is a huge castle on the banks of the River Seiont. It has hosted the investiture of several Prince of Wales including Prince Charles in 1969.

As with many castles, there were lots and lots .... and lots .... of tiny winding steps inside the towers which had to be climbed to get the best views of the castle and the surrounding town.

After visiting the castle we took a walk into the town. We walked underneath a colourful canopy of dozens of umbrellas which had been hung above the streets.

We found a quirky little coffee shop which served complimentary handmade biscuits with our drinks.

After visiting Caernarfon we drove back over the Menai Suspension bridge to Beaumaris.

Lara had been inspired by the people we had seen crab fishing the other day to have a go herself - something we hadn't done for quiet some time. So armed with a crab net and bucket we headed to the pier and found a spot.

It didn't take long before Lara was pulling in the crabs.

When we had finished a Beaumaris, we headed back to the cottage and picked up fish and chips on the way home.
