Day 223 - August 11th

Today we visited Plas Cadnant - Hidden Gardens.

You know you're in Wales when there are sheep wandering freely about the car park!

The gardens were beautiful and included a walled garden, valley garden and woodland garden. Lots of photos were taken.

It was lovely to wander around the grounds finding all there was to see and the flowers were stunning.

Earlier in the day, with rain forecast, we had visited the Anglesey Sea Zoo which was mostly undercover. The Sea Zoo was very much like a Sealife Centre (but smaller) and had marine creatures from around the UK coastline.

Outside the Sea Zoo was a Crazy Golf course and it would have been rude not to have a game.

We also enjoyed some rather nice 'Unicorn' ice-cream.

On our way from the Sea Zoo to Plas Cadnant we made a whistle stop visit to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. The name, with 58 characters split into 19 syllables, is the longest place name in Europe and the second longest official one-word place name in the world.

We took the obligatory photo in front of the railway station.

Our final stop of the day was towards the end of the day when we stopped at the Menai Bridge Viewpoint. From the viewpoint we could see the Menai Strait and the two bridges which connect Anglesey to the mainland.

The Brittania Bridge ....

.... and the Menai bridge
