We drove to Padarn Country Park at Llanberis. The park was perfect for walking and there were also people taking part in various watersports on Llyn Padarn.
The Llanberis Lake Railway, a narrow-gauge railway also runs round the lake.
We stumbled upon The National Slate Museum which is also at Llanberis, and is sited in the Victorian workshops which were once part of the Dinorwic quarry.
The buildings are set out as through the workmen have just downed their tools and left.
The Chief Engineer;s house and workers cottages have been furnished to reflect life during the early 1900s.....
.... as have the workshops.
It was a really interesting place to visit.
Nearby is the Quarry Hospital Museum. Built in 1860 to provide care for those working at the Dinorwic quarry, the hospital is sited high up on the hillside.
There were quite a lots of steps to climb to get the the building.
After looking around the museum it was nice to sit outside in the sunshine with the view of Snowdon.
After retracing our steps back to the car, we decided that once again ice-creams were called for.
This time we had Candy Floss, Lemon Crunch and White Chocolate & Raspberry flavours. 😊
We ended our day back at the cottage celebrating Wayne's birthday with cake.
