Day 227 - August 15th

After yesterdays wet weather, today was lovely and sunny and dry.

Lara and I had booked to go Alpaca Walking this afternoon with Anglesey Alpacas but first we all took a trip to Rhosneigr.

Rhosneigr is a beach favoured by water sports enthusiasts so we stood and watched the kite surfers, wind surfers and surfers for a while. Although it was dry and sunny ti was quite windy so presumably perfect for kite surfing.

After Rhosneigr, it was time to drive to the Alpaca Walk.

We were given a talk about the alpacas and then were paired up.

Lara enjoyed he walk with two year old 'Alamo'.

And I happily walked with his friend 'Santiago'

As well as walking the Alpacas, Wilbur the sheep also came with us for a walk. He had been a 'house sheep' and had been taken in by Anglesey Alpacas when he got too much for his owner. Apparently he used to sleep in a bed! He was very friendly and suffers from separation anxiety so when the alpacas go for a walk, Wilbur goes too and often leads the way. Among the Alpacas were two called Gandalf and Griffindor that had previously been owned by Katie Price. Anglesey Alpacas rescued them when she got fed up of them!

We had a great time with the Alpacas and were sorry to say goodbye to them.

Before returning to the cottage we drove a short way to Newborough Beach.

The beach which stretches for 3½ miles was reached by driving through Newborough Forest. We looked our for red squirrels whilst driving through the forest but once again didn't see any.
